Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Linespotting Org (“Linespotting,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with Grok Build Remote (the website, install scripts, desktop agents, and mobile applications; together the “Service”). We design the product so that sensitive control traffic travels through APIs and devices you configure, not through a Linespotting-hosted command relay.
1. Who we are
Controller for personal data described here: Linespotting Org, in connection with the Grok Build Remote product. Contact via official LinespottingOrg channels published on product pages or the GitHub organization profile.
2. Scope
This policy covers:
- The public marketing site and static assets (including Cloudflare Pages hosting);
- The agent install script and binary download flow;
- Desktop agents and mobile apps when they collect or process data as described below.
It does not govern xAI’s processing of Grok API requests, Apple’s or Google’s processing of app store transactions, or Microsoft’s processing of Store downloads. Those providers have their own privacy policies.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Website (marketing + install)
- Server / CDN logs: Hosting providers (e.g. Cloudflare) may automatically log IP address, user agent, referrer, requested URL, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. We do not operate a first-party analytics cookie suite on the static site by default.
- No account required to read the site or run the public install command documentation.
3.2 Install script and agent downloads
- When you fetch
install.shor release binaries, the CDN or GitHub may log the request. - If the agent repository is private, you may supply a GitHub personal access token locally in your environment to download assets. That token stays on your machine and is never collected by this website. Do not paste tokens into web forms on this site (we do not provide such forms).
3.3 Desktop agent (on your machine)
- Local configuration: API keys, pairing codes, session names, and preferences are stored locally on your device (or in OS keychain/secret storage where implemented).
- Session content: Terminal inject/capture data is processed on your machine and exchanged via the Grok API under your credentials. Linespotting does not operate a central mailbox that stores your commands by default.
- Diagnostics (optional): If you enable crash reporting or opt-in telemetry in a future version, we will describe categories and controls in-app and update this policy before enabling by default.
3.4 Mobile applications
- Purchase data: Handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. We may receive non-sensitive purchase validation signals (e.g. entitlement status) as needed to unlock paid features.
- Local app data: Pairing state, UI preferences, and API credentials you enter are stored on-device unless you explicitly use a cloud backup feature provided by your OS.
- Notifications: If push notifications are added, device tokens would be processed by the OS push services and any push provider we configure; we will update this policy if that ships.
3.5 Information we do not intentionally collect
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not require a Linespotting user account for the core relay design described at launch.
- We do not ask for government ID for the free agent download.
4. How we use information
- To deliver the website, install scripts, and software updates;
- To secure infrastructure, prevent abuse, and debug outages;
- To communicate about material product or legal changes when we have a contact channel;
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK where applicable)
- Legitimate interests: operating a secure static site, measuring basic reliability, protecting IP and services;
- Contract: providing paid app features you purchased;
- Consent: where required for optional cookies, telemetry, or marketing (none enabled by default on this static site);
- Legal obligation: when retention or disclosure is required by law.
6. Sharing
We share information only as needed with:
- Infrastructure processors (e.g. Cloudflare Pages, DNS, GitHub for release hosting) under their terms;
- App stores for distribution and payments;
- Professional advisors or authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety;
- Successors in a merger or asset transfer, with notice where required.
Command content you send through the Grok API is processed by xAI under your agreement with them. Review xAI’s privacy documentation for that processing.
7. International transfers
Hosting and CDN providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
8. Retention
- CDN and security logs: retained according to the host’s defaults or our configured window (typically days to months) unless needed longer for security investigations.
- Local agent/app data: retained until you delete the app/agent or clear local storage.
- We do not maintain a long-lived central archive of your terminal sessions.
9. Security
We use industry-standard practices for the static site (HTTPS, restricted deploy credentials, no secrets in client code). You are responsible for protecting API keys, GitHub tokens, and pairing codes on your devices, and for keeping OS and agent versions reasonably up to date.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us via the website, contact us and we will delete it where applicable.
11. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR/UK GDPR and similar laws), you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. For data held only on your device, use OS uninstall and local deletion. For website/hosting logs we control, contact us with a reasonable request; we may need to verify identity and may refuse manifestly unfounded or excessive requests as permitted by law. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the EU/EEA, in your place of residence or work).
12. Cookies and similar technologies
The marketing site is static and does not set first-party analytics cookies by default. Cloudflare or the browser may use strictly necessary technical storage. If we later add analytics or marketing cookies, we will provide notice and consent mechanisms where required.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy by posting a new version with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted on the site when practical. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acknowledgment where permitted by law.
14. Contact
Privacy requests: Linespotting Org — Grok Build Remote.
Use official LinespottingOrg contact channels. Do not send API keys, passwords, or private tokens
in unsolicited email.
